Repurposing Candle Jars

Cleaning out your used candle jar with your favourite chosen wrap is a simple yet effective way to recycle and give the container a second life. Whether repurposed for storing small items, holding small flowers, or even becoming a chic pen holder, it’s a sustainable way to reduce waste while adding a touch of character to your home. Plus, each jar carries the warmth of its past, creating a unique blend of practicality and sentiment.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it safely and effectively:
Steps to Clean Out a Used Candle Jar

Let the Candle Cool Completely
Allow the candle to cool and solidify completely before attempting to clean it. Never try to clean a hot candle jar, as it can be dangerous and cause burns.

Remove the Wick
Once the wax has cooled, use a butter knife or spoon to gently scrape off the wick holder (the metal part that holds the wick).

Remove the Excess Wax
Place the jar in your sink. Fill the inside of the jar with near boiling water. The hot water will slowly melt the residual wax and rise to the surface. Allow the water to completely cool, and the wax will solidify on the top. Remove the wax and discard.

Clean the Jar
After removing as much wax as possible, wash the inside of the jar with warm water and dish soap to remove any leftover residue. Be careful not to wet your beautiful wrap on the outside. If there are still some stubborn wax spots, you can use rubbing alcohol on a cloth to wipe them away.

Clean the Rim (Optional)
If the wax left a residue around the jar rim, use a little rubbing alcohol on a paper towel or cloth to clean it off.

Dry the Jar
Let the jar air dry completely before reusing it for other purposes, like using it for storage or decor.
Tips!
-
Wax Disposal
Do not pour wax down the drain, as it can cause clogs. Dispose of it in the trash once it's hardened.
-
Be Cautious with Heat
Always handle hot wax and jars carefully to avoid burns.
